Bring Back Blue: Clean up the air by limiting particulate matter

Cut Back on Pollution While You Cut Your Grass

Gas-powered lawmer

Gas-powered lawn and garden equipment, including lawn mowers, leaf blowers, trimmers, edgers, and chain saws, contribute to the brown cloud through their exhaust emissions. Think about all of those tools multiplied by all of the homes and commercial landscapes in Maricopa County, and you’ll get a picture of how much particulate pollution we’re creating just by maintaining our landscapes. There’s an easy solution, though: switch to electric equipment. Electric lawn and garden tools have many advantages—they’re cleaner, quieter, and easier to maintain. Best of all for our skies, using electric tools dramatically decreases the amount of particulate pollution you create.

Have You Taken the March Challenge

Throughout the month of March, Maricopa County is challenging all residents to Take the Pledge and to help us Bring Back Blue Skies. Everyone who takes the Challenge will be entered to win the grand prize of a Black & Decker electric lawnmower, donated by SRP, or tickets to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Entering is easy...just check off the actions you'll pledge to do to reduce particulate pollution.
